| Resumen en español | En este artículo se estudia el carácter transfronterizo de las culturas garífuna, surgida en las Pequeñas Antillas del mestizaje cultural entre negros cimarrones e indígenas caribes y ubicada actualmente en el litoral atlántico centroamericano, y seminole negro, surgida en Florida de un mestizaje similar entre negros cimarrones e indígenas seminoles y ubicada actualmente en Texas, Oklahoma y Coahuila. Ese carácter transfronterizo es analizado tanto en la vertiente territorial, relativa al éxodo provocado por la resistencia anti-colonial que ha dado lugar a dos sociedades viajeras que han habitado y habitan en distintos territorios; como en la vertiente étnico-identitaria, relativa a unas identidades que basculan entre el carácter indígena y el afro-americano y que son construidas y (re) construidas en el contexto de la relación con otros grupos y de la inserción en las naciones que habitan |
| Resumen en inglés | This paper studies the cross-border characteristic of Garifuna and Black Seminole cultures. The first was born in the Lesser Antilles from the cultural miscegenation of black maroons and Carib Indians and now inhabits the Atlantic coast of Central America. The latter was born in Florida from a similar miscegenation of black maroons and Seminole Indians and now inhabits the states of Texas, Oklahoma and Coahuila. The cross-border characteristic is analyzed in both the territorial and ethnic meanings. The first has to do with the exodus provoked by anti-colonial resistance that has produced two traveling cultures which inhabited and inhabit different territories; and the latter with identities that merge between the Indian ant the African-American kind and that are constructed and (re) constructed in the context of the relationship with other groups and the insertion in the nations that both groups inhabit |
