| Resumen en español | Este artículo trae a la luz la ética inmanente que subyace al tratamiento de la violencia en “El Ojo Silva” de Roberto Bolaño. Para desarrollar esta lectura en su totalidad y mostrar la interrelación entre una concepción inmanente y una estructura narrativa, el artículo parte de rasgos estilísticos y termina con especulaciones teóricas. De esta manera, es posible tanto posicionar el cuento dentro de una tradición literaria extensa como plantear que las iteraciones narrativas nutridas por la imaginación representan un ejercicio de la razón práctica que abarca generalizaciones, historia y ficción. La argumentación está dividida en cuatro partes: el planteamiento de un caso por medio de la captatio benevolentiae de la retórica clásica, el exilio como experiencia histórica y alegoría, el evento violento como centro inmanente y, por último, la violencia soberana en relación con una poética de la excepción. | Resumen en inglés | This paper unearths the immanent ethics that underlie the thematization of violence in Roberto Bolaño’s “El Ojo Silva”. To provide an encompassing reading and reveal the interrelationship between a notion of immanence and a narrative structure, this paper takes as point of departure stylistic features and concludes with theoretical speculations. In this manner, it is possible to position the short story in relation to a long literary tradition, as well as show how the imaginative iterations engrained in the narrative structure tune practical reasoning through generalizations, history, and fiction. The argumentation is divided in four parts that intertwine: a case posited by resorting to the “winning of goodwill” from classical rhetoric, the exile depicted as historical experience and an allegory, a violent event as immanent core, and, lastly, sovereign violence as key element in poetics of exception.
