| Resumen en español | Se estudiaron en cinco universidades del Municipio Maracaibo las habilidades tecnológicas de los estudiantes en el uso de Internet. Producto de una investigación exploratoria descriptiva se muestran los resultados de las universidades Dr. Rafael Belloso Chacín y Dr. José Gregorio Hernández. Para el manejo conceptual, se consideraron los postulados teóricos de James Martins (1985), James Herring (1999), UNESCO (1998), el Plan Nacional de Telecomunicaciones de Venezuela (2000) y el Programa Alma Mater de la Oficina de Planificación del Sector Universitario OPSU (2005). Entre los resultados más relevantes se observo que más del 80% de los estudiantes aprendieron a manejar Internet fuera del recinto universitario. En cuanto a las búsquedas telemáticas, el 50% de los estudiantes manifestaron desconocer las diferencias existentes entre un buscador y una página WEB. Se concluye que las universidades están obligadas a plantearse estrategias de aprendizaje y de gestión para incorporar a los nuevos profesionales en la infosociedad a través del uso de Internet |
| Resumen en inglés | It was studied in five universities of the Municipality Maracaibo the technological abilities of the students in the use of Internet. Product of a descriptive exploratory investigation is shown the results of the universities Dr. Rafael Belloso Chacín and Dr. José Gregorio Hernández. For the conceptual handling, it was considered the theoretical postulates of James Martins (1985), James Herring (1999), UNESCO (1998), the National Plan of Telecommunications of Venezuela (2000) and the Program Alma Mater of the Office of Planning of the University Sector OPSU (2005). Among the most outstanding results, it is observed that more than 80% of the students learned how to manage Internet outside of the university enclosure. As for the telematic searches, 50% of the students manifested to ignore the existent differences between a searcher and a page WEB. It is concluded, that the universities are forced to think about learning strategies and maneuver to incorporate the new professionals in the info society through the use of Internet |
