| Resumen en español | En este estudio sobre The Innocents (Jack Clayton, 1961) se examina la figura del detective como un personaje con capacidad para moverse con libertad dentro y fuera de la Ley, de lo ético y de lo moral. A partir de esta rebeldía adquirida se dilucida aquella destreza que le empuja a persistir en su empeño por desvelar el misterio de lo que acontece, pues esta incertidumbre que ansía atenaza su existencia. En este sentido, se formulan dos hipótesis de trabajo para conducir esta investigación: H1) Ambos, Henry James en The Turn of The Screw (1898) pero principalmente Jack Clayton en The Innocents (1961) por el énfasis que pone en ello, exponen en sendas obras que la imaginación es el vehículo necesario para atravesar los límites de lo establecido; H2) este proceso de autoconocimiento que potencia el aislamiento e incomprensión comporta un dolor, una herida, que desencadena la irrupción de la locura. Así pues, se utilizará una metodología de análisis textual para intentar confirmar o refutar las hipótesis expuestas. |
| Resumen en inglés | In this study of The Innocents (Jack Clayton, 1961) the figure of the detective is examined as a character with the ability to move freely within and outside the Law, ethics and morals. From this acquired rebelliousness, the skill that pushed him to persist in his efforts to reveal the mystery of what is happening is elucidated, since this uncertainty that he longs for grips his existence. In this sense, two working hypotheses are formulated to conduct this research: H1) Both, Henry James in The Turn of The Screw (1898) but mainly Jack Clayton in The Innocents (1961) due to the emphasis he puts on it, expose in both works that the imagination is the necessary vehicle to go beyond the limits of what is established; H2) this process of self-knowledge that enhances isolation and misunderstanding involves pain, a wound, which triggers the irruption of madness. Thus, a textual analysis methodology was established to try to confirm or refute the exposed hypotheses. |
