| Spanish abstract | Las mujeres tuvieron un gran protagonismo en el cristianismo primitivo. Entre las diferentes maneras en que se manifestó, destaca sobre todo el diaconado por su carácter transversal y por su duración, pues aparece ya en sus inicios. Éste alcanzará su mayor esplendor en los siglos iv y v, comenzará a desaparecer progresivamente a partir del siglo vi y quedará reducido a un fenómeno marginal a partir del siglo xii. En este artículo, después de una breve introducción a esas otras formas de participación, se estudiarán las principales referencias a este ministerio (situando el estudio en la parte oriental del Imperio romano hasta el siglo v) para así descubrir su desarrollo, funciones y características |
| English abstract | Women played a leading role in Early Christianity. Among other kinds of protagonism, the diaconate stands out for its transversal nature and its duration. Women deacons have existed since the beginnings of diaconates, an office that reached its greatest splendor in the fourth and fifth centuries AD. Female-led diaconates would gradually disappear from the sixth century on and would be reduced to a marginal phenomenon by the 12th century. In this article, after a brief introduction to diverse forms of female protagonism, we study the main references to this ministry in the Eastern part of the Roman Empire from the first to the fifth centuries AD, in order to discover its development, functions, and characteristics |
