| Spanish abstract | Este artículo compara dos investigaciones concluidas que analizaron el fenómeno de la construcción de liderazgos políticos en dos alcaldesas ligadas al partido Unión Demócrata Independiente (UDI). La hipótesis refiere a que buena parte de su continuidad en el cargo se explica por la eficacia en la estructuración de relaciones clientelares hacia abajo. De ello, se establecen algunos patrones que caracterizan su gestión en ambos contextos, haciendo énfasis en los mecanismos de vinculación municipio-organizaciones vecinales. Las conclusiones invitan a pensar el vínculo entre clientelismo de derecha y cultura política en el Chile contemporáneo |
| English abstract | This article compares two finished research projects that analyzed the construction of political leadership by two women mayors linked to the Independent Democratic Union (UDI). The authors’ hypothesis states that to a large degree, the fact that they continue in their posts can be explained by their effective structuring of patronage or clientelist relations with their social base. From there, the article establishes certain patterns that characterize their work in both contexts, emphasizing the mechanisms of linking the municipal government with neighborhood organizations. In their conclusions, the authors invite the reader to think about the link between right-wing clientelism and political culture in contemporary Chile |
