| English abstract | This paper is a critical exercise on the play Stabat Mater, created by Janaína Leite and collaborators, in 2019. This production became a theatrical landmark in the city of São Paulo. Postulated as the “emergence of the real”, the artist’s own involvement in the substance of the work plus the search for a threshold zone, in which the boundary between art and life is strained, causes astonishment and fascination, but they also likely present, as a counterface, high doses of idealism and mystification. These are fascinating aesthetic formulations that have reoriented the notion of politics in the arts since the 1970s, while at the same time they seem to accompany and reproduce new patterns of cultural consumption and atomized work in force in contemporary capitalism. In summary, what appears on the one hand as transgression and refusal of the disorder of the world, on the other hand has an aspect of realignment, adherence and fascination with barbarism |
| Portuguese abstract | O artigo é um exercício crítico sobre o espetáculo Stabat Mater, criado por Janaína Leite e uma equipe de colaboradoras, em 2019. A montagem se transformou, muito rapidamente, em uma espécie de marco teatral na cidade de São Paulo. Postulados como a "emergência do real", a implicação da própria artista na substância da obra, mais a busca de uma zona de limiar, na qual se tensionasse a fronteira entre arte e vida, causam espanto e fascínio, porém é provável que também apresentem, como contraface, doses elevadas de idealismo e mistificação. São formulações estéticas fascinantes que reorientam a noção de política nas artes desde os anos 1970, ao mesmo tempo parecem acompanhar e reproduzir novos padrões de consumo cultural e trabalho atomizado vigentes no capitalismo contemporâneo. Em síntese, aquilo que por um lado aparece como transgressão e recusa da desordem do mundo, por outro apresenta um aspecto de realinhamento, adesão e fascínio pela barbárie |
