| Spanish abstract | En este artículo se exploran las formas en las que se ha representado la imagen de las brujas en diferentes tradiciones literarias. Por un lado, tenemos a Sycorax y sus múltiples versiones desde La tempestad de Shakespeare, así como la continuidad de esta representación en la idea de canibalesa o Calibanesa que mantiene la imagen de las mujeres negras llenas de prejuicios raciales; por otro lado, encontramos la figura de la bruja representada desde una mujer caribeña, la Tituba de Maryse Condé que se deshace de la bruja silente para dar paso a una mujer cuyo arte muestra la resistencia de los saberes/poderes soterrados |
| English abstract | This article explores the ways in which the image of witches has been represented in different literary traditions. On the one hand, we have Sycorax and its multiple versions since The Tempest of Shakespeare, as well as the continuity of this representation in the idea of Canibalesa or Calibanesa that maintains the image of the black women full of racial prejudices; On the other hand, we find the figure of the witch represented from a Caribbean woman, the Tituba of Maryse Condé who gets rid of the silent witch to give way to a woman whose art shows the resistance of underground knowledge / powers |
