| Spanish abstract | El artículo presenta -sin ánimo de generalizar- opiniones recogidas de profesores y profesoras de escuelas rurales de la Región de La Araucanía respecto de la infancia y adolescencia mapuche y de algunos aspectos de su vida. Desde un estudio exploratorio se recoge información sobre las opiniones docentes respecto de la participación, aspiraciones de los padres sobre sus hijos, educación intercultural bilingüe (EIB), crianza mapuche y discriminación. Se investigó en territorios de las identidades mapuche pewenche, nagche, wenteche y lafquenche de la Región, desde un recorrido de campo que buscó levantar información inicial sobre temas relevantes que pudieran conformar una visión amplia de la infancia y adolescencia mapuche en La Araucanía. De esta manera, se espera contribuir a una mejor organización curricular y práctica pedagógica en la educación en general y educación intercultural bilingüe en particular |
| English abstract | We present, without the intention to generalize, a collection of opinions of male and female teachers from rural schools of the Araucanía region concerning Mapuche childhood and adolescence, and some aspects of their life. An exploratory study, collected opinions of teachers about participation, parent’s expectations about their children, intercultural bilingual education (IBE), Mapuche upbringing and discrimination. The work was conducted on Mapuche Pewenche, Nagche, Wenteche and Lafquenche territorial ground within the Region, starting with a field trip aimed at getting initial information about relevant topics that would give us a scoping vision of Mapuche childhood and adolescence in the Araucanía. Our aim is to contribute improving curricular organization and pedagogic practice in general and intercultural bilingual education in particular |
