English abstract | The objective of the present study was to determine the relation between sense of humor and subjective wellbeing in older Venezuelan adults. The study’s methodology involved a non-experimental, correlational and transversal model. The sample was made up of 80 participants (50 men and 30 women), who were selected using a non-probabilistic intentional sampling method. The Multidimensional Sense of Humor Scale and the Alarcon’s Happiness Scale were used. Results indicate a moderate significant relation between sense of humor and subjective wellbeing. Participants’ attitude toward humor in social situations explains a 22.2% of the total variance for subjective wellbeing. Likewise, men and women differed only in the dimension of positive sense of life for subjective well-being. Results demonstrate the need of developing individual and group interventions that promote personal growth using humor in these populations |
