| Spanish abstract | El presente trabajo aborda el estudio los pleitos de naturalización de los mercaderes portugueses de la Sevilla del Quinientos. Se estudia el alcance e implicaciones de los conceptos de vecindad y naturaleza, y se consideran estos pleitos en relación con los tráficos económicos como la trata negrera, la relación con la legislación vigente sobre extranjeros y comercio y la malla social que latía tras estos pleitos. Se considera también las limitaciones de esta fuente contraponiéndola con la condición conversa de algunos de estos mercaderes y su rol en las cofradías de la ciudad |
| English abstract | In this paper the author analyzes the lawsuits for naturalization that the portuguese merchants litigated in the 16th century Seville. The study of the scope of concepts like citizenship and nativeness is one of the objectives of this paper, as well as their relationship with the legislation about foreigners and the trade carried out by this merchants, specially the slave trade, paying also attention to the social network that lies behind this lawsuits. The limitations of this source are also considered, taking into account the converso condition of some of the litigants and their role in the city’s brotherhoods merchants, specially the slave trade, paying also attention to the social network that lies behind this lawsuits.
