| Spanish abstract | El objetivo de este artículo es analizar la manera en que las relaciones de las jóvenes madres solteras con sus redes de apoyo participan en la configuración de su identidad materna universitaria. Elaboramos los relatos de vida de 8 jóvenes madres solteras, que asisten a alguna de las carreras del nivel licenciatura en la Facultad de Ciencias Químicas de la Universidad Autónoma de San Luis Potosí. Los acuerdos que estas mujeres establecen con su red de apoyo principal -que es la familia de origen-, y el que asistan a la universidad para obtener una formación profesional que les permitan ingresar al mundo laboral y convertirse en proveedoras, son dos elementos fundamentales para la conformación de la identidad materna universitaria. Entre los acuerdos de correspondencia hacia su red de apoyo, estas jóvenes ejercen una maternidad múltiple, con la finalidad de lograr independencia económica y residencial, practicando así una agencia a futuro |
| English abstract | The aim of this article is to analyze how the relationships of young single mothers with their support networks participate in configuring their maternal identity in university settings. We traced the life histories of 8 young single mothers enrolled in undergraduate programs at the School of Chemical Sciences of the Autonomous University of San Luis Potosí. The arrangements that these women negotiate with their main support network -i.e., the family of origin- and their attendance at university where they seek to obtain the professional training that will allow them to enter the working world and become providers, are two fundamental elements in the formation of their maternal identity at university. Within the space of the agreements forged with their support network, these women exercise a multiple maternity as they strive to achieve economic and residential independence, while practicing an agency that aims towards the future |
