English abstract Madelung’s disease (benign symmetric lipomatosis, LaunoisBensaude syndrome) was described for the first time in the middle of the 19th century. This disease is characterized by the formation of non-encapsulated adipose tissue in different parts of the body, but very characteristically on the head, neck, thorax and upper limbs, causing considerable aesthetic deformities. This disorder affects mainly men between 30 and 60 years of age. We present a case of this pathology and its treatment. Different etiopathogenic theories have been postulated and it is considered a rare disease. Patients often suffer from coexisting ailments, such as hepatic function disorders, polyneuropathy, diabetes, gynecomastia, hyperuricemia and deviations of lipid management parameters. Given the benign nature of the lesion, surgical debulking is the treatment of choice; liposuction is reserved for smaller lesions
