| Spanish abstract | Introducción: la COVID-19 es una enfermedad infectocontagiosa que representa un fenómeno epidemiológico amenazante que ocasionó, en breve tiempo, una gran pandemia y que puede dejar muchas secuelas en quienes la padecen. Información del paciente: se presenta una adolescente cubana de 17 años, informada con nivel de funcionamiento psicótico tras la infección por la COVID-19, que fue ingresada en el Servicio de Salud Mental del Hospital Pediátrico Universitario “José Luis Miranda”. Conclusiones: lo interesante radica en que es la primera paciente cubana diagnosticada con un trastorno psicótico debido a otra afección médica tras la infección por la COVID19. Son importantes el diagnóstico precoz de las secuelas neuropsiquiátricas de esta enfermedad y el tratamiento multidisciplinario oportuno para el manejo integral de estos pacientes |
| English abstract | Introduction: COVID-19 is an infectious disease that represents a threatening epidemiological phenomenon that caused a great pandemic in a short time and can leave many consequences in those who suffer from it. Information of the patiente: We present the case of a 17-year-old Cuban adolescent, reported with a psychotic functioning level after COVID-19 infection, admitted to the Mental Health service of the “José Luis Miranda” University Pediatric Hospital. Conclusions: What is interesting is that the case of the first Cuban patient diagnosed with a psychotic disorder due to another medical condition after COVID-19 infection is presented, making clear the importance of early diagnosis of the neuropsychiatric sequelae of this disease and multidisciplinary treatment appropriate for the comprehensive management of these patients |
