English abstract Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a developmental disorder characterized by deficits in social interaction and communication, with presence of stereotyped behavior and/or restrict interest. ASD comprises a variety of levels of symptoms severity. Behavior-Analytic intervention is often the most effective way in intervention to autism. Behavioral interventions to autism, in general, focus two elements: the advancement of repertoires that are in deficit and reduction of behavioral excesses. The use of aversive control in behavioral intervention is relatively well accepted in cases in which selfinjurious or aggressive behavior offers more risk than the exposition to the carefully programmed aversive stimulation. In the present work, we would like to go further than that and discuss other (and certainly less extreme) contact points between aversive contingencies and behavior-analytic intervention to autism, with particular attention to punishment. Much of the knowledge currently available on aversive control comes from basic research with electrical shock as aversive stimulus. Because of that, there is much to know about aversive control in applied contexts. The use of mild aversive control is relatively frequent under the term “time-out” or differential reinforcement of other behavior (DRO). In both cases, reinforcing stimulation is removed from the environment contingently up on the occurrence of a target-response. This is precisely a contingence of negative punishment. Aversive contingencies are also present at some level in procedures to block stereotyped, aggressive, or selfinjurious behavior. Offering the most effective way of intervention is an ethical obligation. Sometimes, the most effective way of intervention might include some intervention procedures that feature aversive control. In opposition to that are less effective and longer lasting ways of intervention fully based on positive reinforcement. Applied..
