Resumen en inglés | The accounts of the writers D.H. Lawrence, Graham Greene, MarcChadourne and Antonin Artaud, show us the complexity of the landscape in Mexico City in the 20s and 30s of the 20th century. The social reality portrayed by these authors contrasts with the utopian thinking about America that permeated among European intellectuals after the First World War. Located between the post-revolutionary devastation and the social growth during Cardenas presidency, the country's capital is harshly criticized by these British and French authors. These attacks allow us to glimpse a part of this city that is still in force but often we prefer to ignore. |
Abstract:The accounts of the writers D.H.
