| English abstract | In the same way as other sorts of self-writing, such as the autobiography and the self-portrait, autofiction shares the authenticity of the lived experience as a constitutive element of its discursive utterance. Autofiction claims for itself the status of true discourse, which does not pose a problem of definition as long as it is borne in mind Foucault’s problematization according to which one should regard with suspicion every will to truth, understood as a structuring foundation for the conditions of intelligibility of all discourses moving through the social space, whether it aims to be imaginative writing or not. By contrast to the term “autobiography”, autofiction presents the advantage of making explicit the intention of turning itself into a fiction, or even the intention of describing the act of self-instauration out of an exercise that does not avoid the need of fictionalization as a tool for constructing a certain discursive logic or stability by the writing subject. Stemming from these assumptions, this paper aims to make a reading of how homosexuality and masculinity cross in the construction of the narrator-protagonist in Pablo Pérez’s A Year Without Love (1998) |
| Portuguese abstract | Da mesma maneira que outras formas da escrita de si, tais como a autobiografia e o auto-retrato, a autoficção compartilha a autenticidade da experiência vivida como elemento constituinte da sua enunciação discursiva. A autoficção reivindica para si o estatuto de discurso verdadeiro, o que não chega a ser um problema de definição, desde que se mantenha em mente a problematização foucaultiana de se colocar sob suspeita toda e qualquer vontade de verdade, entendida como alicerce estruturante das condições de inteligibilidade de todo e qualquer discurso a circular no espaço social, aspire ele à condição de escrita imaginativa ou não. Em contraposição ao termo “autobiografia”, a autoficção apresenta a vantagem de deixar explícita a intenção de fazer de si uma ficção, ou ainda, de descrever o ato de instauração do si mesmo a partir de um exercício que não se furta da necessidade da ficcionalização como instrumento de construção de uma determinada lógica ou estabilidade discursiva pelo sujeito que escreve. A partir de tais pressupostos, a intenção deste trabalho é a de realizar uma leitura de como a homossexualidade e a masculinidade se cruzam na construção do narrador-protagonista de Un año sin amor, de Pablo Pérez (1998) |
