| Spanish abstract | La vulnerabilidad de las comunidades rurales como Chabihau, en el municipio de Yobain, Yucatán, se encuentra asociada con las condiciones particulares de su desarrollo en el tiempo y el territorio. Mediante la relación sociedad-naturaleza, el hombre genera condiciones de riesgo cuando en el manejo del territorio no se considera la influencia de ciertos fenómenos naturales, particularmente los intensos. Desde el momento en el que un grupo social se asienta en un determinado entorno, éste es modificado a partir de prácticas culturales que sirven de adaptación y, en algunos casos, se establecen condiciones de vulnerabilidad. En el presente trabajo se aborda el estudio de algunos elementos que conforman la vulnerabilidad ante huracanes en Chabihau, Yucatán; al respecto, el proceso de poblamiento en la costa de Yucatán ha configurado escenarios de vulnerabilidad ante los huracanes, debido al deterioro ambiental de la costa, por ejemplo, la erosión, contaminación de la ciénaga y destrucción de las áreas de mangle |
| English abstract | The vulnerability of rural communities as Chabihau, in the municipality of Yobain, Yucatan, is associated to relationship between society and nature, where man creates hazardous conditions in managing their environment and resources relationship. Through the relationship between society and nature, man creates hazardous conditions when land management are not considered the influence of certain natural phenomena, particularly intense. From the moment in which a social group sits in a given environment, it is modified through cultural practices that serve adaptation and, in some cases, conditions of vulnerability that have developed over time are set.
