| English abstract | The Experience of Motherhood in Primiparous Women in the Return of Labor Activities Abstract This study focuses on the experience of maternity in primiparous women in their return to normal work activities. Participants were three first-time mothers who returned to work after maternity license period. We performed a semi-structured interview and data were analyzed using Analysis of Content. It was underlined that the conscious and careful planning of pregnancy appears to have direct implications on the activity of work that women exercise, being that the greater dedication to the work activity, the greater the need for planning the birth of their first child. It was also pointed out that during maternity license a woman can not devote herself exclusively to her child and this may be related to the need to assume other tasks. Finally, we conclude that the major difficulty in balancing motherhood with work is the lack of time and extra work for women, but even with women signaling this difficulty, they feel accomplished with motherhood and notice the importance of work in their lives |
| Portuguese abstract | O presente estudo objetivou investigar a experiência da maternidade em mulheres primíparas no retorno às atividades laborais. Participaram do estudo três mães primíparas que retornaram ao trabalho após o período de licença a maternidade. Foi realizada uma entrevista semiestruturada e os dados foram analisados através da Análise de Conteúdo. Destacou-se que o planejamento consciente e cuidadoso da gravidez parece ter implicações diretas da atividade de trabalho que a mulher exerce, sendo que quanto maior a dedicação à atividade laboral maior a necessidade de planejamento sobre o nascimento do primeiro filho. Também se ressaltou que durante a licença maternidade a mulher pode não se dedicar exclusivamente ao filho e isto pode estar relacionado à necessidade de assumir outras tarefas. Para finalizar, conclui-se que a maior dificuldade em conciliar a maternidade com o trabalho é a falta de tempo e a sobrecarga de tarefas para a mulher, porém apesar de as mulheres sinalizarem esta dificuldade, sentem-se realizadas com a maternidade e observam a importância do trabalho em suas vidas |
