| Spanish abstract | Se hizo una revisión historiográfica sobre algunas de las resonancias de El Quijote en la vida cultural de la Nueva España. El análisis se centró en el examen de un biombo del siglo XVIII de autor desconocido en donde se plasmaron algunas de las escenas más importantes de la obra cervantina. Asimismo se plantearon dos hipótesis: primera, que tanto el estilo como el tópico del objeto se habrían convertido en una constante para este tipo de artículos suntuarios que proliferaron en las casas de los novohispanos pudientes, y segunda, que habría existido otro biombo novohispano con motivos iconográficos de la más famosa novela de Cervantes |
| English abstract | Historiographical revision of some echoes of Don Quixote in the cultural life of New Spain. This analysis focuses on the study of a XVIII century folding screen by an unknown author that shows some of the most important scenes in the Cervantes’ litterary work. Furthermore, it poses two hypothesis: the first one sustains that both, the style and the object’s topic would have become a constant for this kind of sumptuary objects proliferating in wealthy people houses in New Spain; the second one claims that there was another New Spain folding screen with iconographic motifs of the best known novel by Cervantes |
