| Spanish abstract | El objeto del artículo es presentar algunos elementos centrales de los ensamblajes institucionales en los cuales se insertaron las guerras civiles colombianas de la primera mitad del siglo XIX. Específicamente interesa destacar el peso que tuvo, en la primeras décadas de XIX, la demarcación de lo territorial a través de la referencia permanente a lo municipal, provincial y local; la delimitación de la autoridad en un contexto marcado por la presencia del caciquismo; y la definición de los derechos a través de hiperdesarrollo jurídico, la defensa del republicanismo y el miedo al pueblo |
| English abstract | The main objective of this article is to show some key elements about the institutional linkages in which Colombian civil wars are placed in the first half of the 19th century. Specifically, it is important to underline the consideration given, in earlier decades of the 19th century, to the demarcation of the territorial aspect by means of a constant reference to the municipal, provincial y local aspects; the delimitation of authority in a context determined by the presence of despotism; and the definition of rights through the hyper-development of laws, the defense of republicanism and the fear of the people |
