| English abstract | This article reviews three main theoretical approaches used to investigate Global Environmental Governance: regime theory, global governance theory and neo-Gramscian theory. It identifies how these theories analyze the role of corporate actors and explain their potential and limits. It argues that the three approaches offer some insights and present significant limitations. When taken separately they do not seem robust enough to deal with the private sector |
| Portuguese abstract | Este artigo revisa as três principais abordagens teóricas utilizadas nas pesquisas sobre Governança Ambiental Global: regimes, governança global e os neo-gramscianos. Visa a identificar o papel que reservam aos atores corporativos, buscando explicitar as suas potencialidades e limites. Constata-se que as três abordagens oferecem insights para a investigação do crescente papel dos atores empresariais, mas também importantes limitações. Tomadas isoladamente não parecem suficientemente robustas |
