English abstract The essential oil of the leaves of Calycolpus moritzianus, collected on the sidewalks of Pamplonita Chinácota, Toledo, Salazar and Ocaña in the department of Norte de Santander, Colombia, was obtained by steam distillation and analyzed by Gas Chromatography High Resolution (GCHR) coupled Mass Spectrometry. Thirty two components were identified representing the 98.7% of the total of the constituents. The main components were limonene (30.73 ± 11.13%) and eucalyptol (28.04 ± 10.81%), followed by α-Pinene (1.85% ± 6.80), β- Caryophyllene (6.73% ± 2.13), Guaiol (1.80% ± 3.46), α-Terpineol (3.24 ± 1.26%), Caryophyllene oxide (2.99 ± 3.04%), α-Copaene (1.39 ± 0.62%) and Germacreno-B (0.76 ± 0.60%). The essential oil was effective against Bacillus subtilis ATCC 6633, Enterococcus faecalis ATCC 29212, Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923 and Proteus mirabilis ATCC 4307, found as the minimum inhibitory concentrations (MIC) 39 g/mL 106 g/mL 836.4 g/mL and 892.2 g/mL respectively. The analysis of antibacterial activity coefficient of the main components showed that the α-Copaene was the most influential in that activity
