English abstract | Among the semicrystalline thermoplastic polymers available, the poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) has showed excellent mechanical and chemical properties with a great resistance to alkalis and strong acids besides other highly corrosive solvents. In the present work it has been possible to reveal the spherulites of the α-type using chemical attack as well as chemical plasma, in samples of PVDF failed during service and in plate of PVDF. The system of chemical plasma consists of a generator of radio frequency connected with a tuner connected to the solenoid; the above mentioned assembly allows the gas injection a feeding source. In this work it was used different gas in the plasma: air, argon and oxygen. The results indicate the presence of crystalline structures of the -type and of the mixed type, susceptible to chemical attack of the service fluid which contributes to the collapse of PVDF pipelines |
